Aboriginal Economic Development

Aboriginal Economic Development refers to a suite of national contribution programs consisting of:

• The Aboriginal Business Development Program (ABDP), which provides business development support to Aboriginal entrepreneurs and organizations;
• The Community Economic Development Program (CEDP), which provides core financial support intended for community economic development planning and capacity development initiatives;
• The Community Economic Opportunities Program (CEOP), which provides project-based support to First Nation and Inuit communities that have opportunities for public services in economic development; and
• The Community Support Services Program (CSSP), which funds the implementation of national and regional plans to deliver support services to First Nation and Inuit community economic development organizations. The focus is on increasing their capacity to carry out one-time projects and ongoing activities related to economic development. 

The territorial component of these programs is delivered by the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor), in close collaboration with INAC. CanNor will work closely with Aboriginal governments and organizations in order to understand and respond to the economic development needs of these groups in accordance with the new Aboriginal Economic Development Framework  .
