Backgrounder - Governments of Canada and Yukon support improvements to northern demographics and labour market statistics

The Yukon Bureau of Statistics will receive $27,500 from the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) and $20,000 from the Yukon Government to organize and host the Circumpolar Statistics Workshop.

This workshop will bring together specialists from northern Canada, Alaska and Greenland to share best practices and models for interpreting northern demographics and labour market statistics.

CanNor Programs

Federal investment for this project is made possible through CanNor’s Strategic Investments in Northern Economic Development (SINED) program which focuses on long-term economic growth, economic diversification and capacity building in all three territories.

SINED is one of several economic development programs within CanNor, which is responsible for coordinating and delivering Canada’s economic development across the North, and for related policy development, research, and advocacy.
